12 ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL MIGRATION ATTEMPT

The Nigerian Immigration Services has arrested 12 persons in Katsina state while they were trying to cross legal and illegal routes to Agadez, Niger republic, en route Libya, then Europe.

Seven of them were women who were said to have covered their faces with hijab in order to avoid arrest.

The victims name are Dennis Igbobo, Elvis Osas, Earnest Ugiagbe, Bright John, Lucky Iyare, Gift Osagie, Godday Ruth, Ovioma Gift, Otoboh Fabour, Believe James, Endurance Idemadia and Marian Josiah.

VETERAN actor and ace broadcaster, Patrick Doyle, has frowned at Davido’s hit song, ÏF” which is currently ruling the airwaves, saying ‘the song is causing a serious harm to the Nigerian youths.’
Speaking on HipTV about entertainment and their impacts on Nigerian youths, the veteran actor faulted Davido’s “30 billion” slogan from his “IF” song.

Former multi-division boxing world champion Floyd Mayweather has announced he will fight UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor in Las Vegas on August 26.
The high-profile duo both took to Twitter on Wednesday evening to confirm their eagerly-awaited showdown.
The fight will take place under normal boxing rules, despite McGregor having never boxed as an amateur or on the professional circuit.


The 40-year-old Mayweather is unbeaten as a professional boxer and announced his retirement after winning his 49th consecutive bout against Andre Berto in September 2015.

Liverpool have been told to add another £10m on to their £26m bid to land Roma winger Mohamed Salah - or forget it, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
On Wednesday, the Serie A club's sporting director warned the Reds that they would drive a hard bargain over a price for Egypt international.
For Salah there is an offer from an English club but the price will be set by Roma, not the buyers," said Monchi.

GIRL ELECTROCUTED TO DEATH BY HIGH TENSION IN RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY

On Tuesday, June 13, 2017, an unlucky student of Rivers State University was electrocuted by a high tension cable. She was found lying near the school's gate, after which she was rushed to the school's health centre where she was confirmed dead.

An eye witness said:
"The erosion  she was trying to to get across had a high tension wire in it as a result of a pole that fell on Monday, June 12th. The deceased had no idea that there was wire in the water."

7 KILLED, 66 OTHERS INJURED IN CHINA BLAST

A blast near a kindergarten in eastern China today, has killed 7 people and left 66 others injured, including children, according to reports by CCTV.

2 died at the scene and 5 others at the hospital, while 9 are in critical condition. No children or teachers were killed.

MAN,33, IN PRISON FOR ATTEMPTED 'HOMOSEXUAL' ATTEMPT ON 3 BOYS

A 33-year-old man, Christian Nwokoro, charged with “unnatural offence’’ of attempted sodomy with three minors, was on Thursday remanded in prison by a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja.
Nwokoro, a bricklayer, resides at Karmo village in the Federal Capital Territory.
Although the defendant denied committing the offence, the judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, refused to grant him bail.

POLICE INSPECTOR DISMISSED FOR RAPE OF 15 YEAR OLD GIRL

An Inspector Joseph Etuk, of the Nigerian Police force who was attached to Mkpat Enin Police Division, has been dismissed from duty for the alleged rape of a 15 year old secondary school girl.

According to the girl, Mary Udo who is an SS1 student of Community Secondary School, Nyadion Mkpat Enin local government of the state, she was coming back from church when the police team on the road stopped her.

NIGERIA HAS 90 MILLION INTERNET USERS

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) said Internet users in the Nigeria stood at 90 million in April.
The telecommunications industry regulator made the disclosure in its Monthly Internet Subscribers Data made available in its website on Thursday in Lagos.
The data indicated that Internet users on both Global System for Mobile (GSM) communications and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) networks increased from 90,003,101 in March to 90,154,737 in April.
